Omega are excited to announce the newest member of our Ensemble: a Victor Fétique silver mounted bow, circa 1920, purchased from Russell Crowe's 'The Art of Divorce' auction.
The silver mounted violin bow was purchased at auction from Sotheby's Australia on 7 April as lot 33 in Russell Crowe's high-profile 'The Art of Divorce' and is on loan to the Ensemble from a generous supporter.
The bow features a round stick, ebony frog with silver rings and pearl eyes, silver overlaid adjuster, stamped 'Vi[ctor] Fétique à Paris' on the handle. The bow has an ivory head plate.
The bow was used by Crowe for practice ahead of his role as Captain Jack Aubrey in the 2003 film Master and Commander. Crowe was coached by renowned violinist and ACO Artistic Director Richard Tognetti for the role.
You can see the bow in its maiden voyage at the upcoming Eternal Quartets, 11 April under the command of principal violinist Alexandra Osborne.
