Andrey Rubstov graduated from the Royal Academy of Music’s conducting course with top honours in 2011. He has worked with a range of orchestras, including touring with the Russian National Orchestra, where he also previously served as a principal oboist.

As well as conducting and performing, Rubstov is a committed composer – his works have been performed in more than 20 countries around the world. Three Moods was written in 2002 soon after Rubstov became a founding member of the Russian National Orchestra Wind Quintet. The writing is evocative yet restrained; at times tinged with humour and at others revealing an emotional maturity that belies the composer’s age.
